Petition started to get street in the Bronx named after Jennifer Lopez

THE BRONX (PIX11) — Should “Jenny from the Block” get her own block?

If Bronx resident and fan Egardo Luis Rivera gets his way, then Jennifer Lopez Way would be on a street sign in Castle Hill. He even wants it to be on Blackrock Avenue, the street where JLo grew up.

“I just want to rename the street after her,” Rivera said.

But getting that done will not be easy. “I’m optimistic even though everybody tells me it’s an uphill battle,” he said.

In order for a street to be named after someone, it must first pass the local community board, then go to the City Council.

Rivera plans to cite Jennifer Lopez as a role model with major accomplishments in the entertainment industry. But according to Community Board 9 Chairman William Rivera, the criteria for street naming goes way beyond that.
