STATEN ISLAND (PIX11) — This is such a turkey of a story, but hopefully without a fowl ending.
More than 100 wild turkeys who live on or near the grounds of the South Beach Psychiatric Center on Staten Island are being given a pardon just days before Thanksgiving.
Dylene Schifando was happy to hear the news.
“It’s great the turkeys are going” on a trip upstate, Schifando.
Schifando said she’s sick and tired of dodging turkey droppings when she walks her dog, a Chow Chow named Jax, so this Dongan Hills resident was thrilled to hear that up to 100 wild turkeys will be relocated to a farm in green county New York, where the owner is a licensed game breeder.
“I blow my whistle and they go away,” Barbara Liang, another neighbor, told PIX11 News. But she wondered about the cost.
