GLENDALE, Queens (PIX11) — Mayor Bill de Blasio recalled Rafael Ramos as a police officer who couldn’t wait to put on his uniform, but also man who was also devoted to his faith.

“He loved blasting Spanish gospel music from his car,” de Blasio said, addressing hundreds who had gathered for the slain officer’s funeral.

De Blasio said Ramos served in many ways.

The mayor has been under fire for not doing enough to support the NYPD during tumultuous weeks of protests and the murder of Ramos and his partner Wenjian Liu, who were shotas they sat in their patrol car in Bedford-Stuyvesant last Saturday by a man who said he was retaliating against police for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
