Police officer shot while on duty in Huntington Station

HUNTINGTON STATION, Suffolk County (PIX11)– An officer was shot while patrolling Huntington Station Wednesday night, sparking a manhunt for the shooter responsible.

The officer who was on duty was shot on Mercer Court just before midnight, Suffolk County police told Newsday.

The unidentified officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Police closed off eastbound Jericho Turnpike and Route 110 as the investigation continues.
