end of days

Some temptations are just to good to pass up. My curiosity got the best of me the other day and I gave in by watching one of those “End of the World” conspiracies videos. This time around the date is set for July 29, 2016. So in three days the biblical prophecies will come true and we will be swallowed up by hell fire while the others who are “saved” will rejoice in the heavens.

I’d have more faith if this wasn’t the sixth time I heard this scenario play out. No matter how many nut balls religious extreme evangelicals say its gonna happen doesn’t mean it will. In 2000 Y2K was supposed to bring on the end of all electronics thrusting us back before the industrial revolution. Nothing happened. Later the big worry was over 2012 and the Mayan calendar predictions that seemed to indicate the end of the world. Nothing happened.

Harold Camping and a few other preachers around the world have made their own predictions about the last day on earth before asteroids hit and volcanoes erupt, and earthquakes tremble. He made the accusations back in 2011, twice in the same year. Another one, Chris Mccann from Pennsylvania says Oct. 2015 was the deadline for our destruction.

With all this talk about ending the world. I ask myself why is the idea that not only our society will end so emphasized almost to the extent of endorsement by Christians and other religions. It’s almost as to say, “See I told you so!!!” This to me is no reason for celebration. There are verses in the Bible that state some will enter salvation, but no one knows who they are until the end starts happening. Sooo with that in mind is this something you really want to believe in and bring on?

God and Man

The student can never be better than the teacher. Words I remember from my childhood. Those words echoed in my brain a valuable lesson of not trying to reach beyond my boundaries. There is another saying though, that power corrupts and it is my belief that the ultimate corruption is not the bending and twisting of rules and laws to become a beneficiary of those perversions.

The most extreme case of valorousness and sheer gull is when men try to achieve divine status while still a mortal being on earth. David Koresh was one of this beings who believed he was actually a prophet whose destiny would be fathering the “Chosen One”. While he was born Vernon Howell, he changed his name to David Koresh in which he claimed direct lineage to King David and the Persian King Cyrus the Great. He became his own self-proclaimed messianic figure.

David Koresh is just one of many figures in our history that wanted to be more than human so they turned themselves into their own conceptualized divine incarnate. Jim Jones, Charles Manson, Marshall Applewhite and a host of others have all claimed to be Jesus or a religious prophet. From early in our history we have voiced a special bond with whatever being we thought created the universe and ourselves. Perhaps the most famous example of this bond is the Apotheosis of George Washington. The painting can be seen in the US Capitol building in which it depicts Washington becoming a God and sitting on a throne among of Roman Gods like Minerva, Columbia and Neptune.

Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs also claimed a special connection between God and themselves. They would claim God gave them birth rights ordinary men and women did not have. The Romans and Greeks were no different.  The burden of proof was rarely questioned in times of prosperity and wealth. What I believe gave them immeasurable malice and confidence is that God in their eyes looked and behaved just like them. There are several examples of God becoming angry in the Bible. Kings 11:9 God becomes angry with Solomon, Exodus 4:14 God becomes angry at Moses, and Balaam.

We even refer to God in gender specific terms. He, Him, His are always the terms we use to externalize God. We humanize God and in turn subconsciously make it possible to ascend to divinity ourselves. Our belief is arrogance and ego driven at best. We can’t become God simultaneously while trying to trace the steps of creation. Instead of trying to understand we want to conquer. We’d rather rule over the world than merely participate in the fabric of its ecosystem.

The reason mankind wants to rule over the universe is because that is the example we perceive to be followed. Since God rules the universe we must in turn rule the space in which we exist. Not every culture believed that space and time has a supervisor. In ancient African cultures the reality is that God is in everything and everything in the world, good, evil and all in between represents God in its self. In other words God isn’t the overseer of the universe, they are one and the same.

I wouldn’t be New Age Of Truth if I didn’t myself subject my theories into the realm of the unexplained and less travelled. What I mean is there are ideas and phenomena that cannot be easily explained, such as the building of the pyramids with such precision, or the suggestion that the earth is itself a living being and the plants, animals and atmosphere create a harmonic planetary ecosystem. Today I want to explore some of these ideals with you.

Bible code

Torah and Bible are written in code– There are theories out there that suggests that the holy books of the Torah and the Bible are written in numerical code with the notions they contains secrets about metaphysics, consciousness and the fabric of our universe. One example is the word Sin is an abbreviation of a Sine Wave. If you look at a picture of an amplitude and wavelength it shows a straight and waves that go into and out of the straight line. According to the theory the straight represents linear time. The Sine Wave represents your individual life wave that crosses into time from birth and out of time at death. Sine=Sin, Cosine wave or Cosine=Cos is another wave length that also is supposed to represent space and the two wavelengths also cross into an out of each other. In the Christian bible sin is evil, because people are born into sin. The theory suggests that we are not born into sin as evil deed, but born into Sine which is connected to time. If your born into time, then this sets you way from GOD, because your life is not eternal because it is bound by the physics of time and space. The Bible also gives light to eternal life and the theory interjects and says you can have eternal life with GOD, by going beyond space and time. Hey, I never said you have to believe it, just follow me.

Books like the Bible Code by Michael Drosnin and Movies like The Omega Codes have popularized he idea that specific letters can be selected to reveal otherwise obscure messages. One example is if you take every 50th letter from the Book of Genesis starting with Taw, the Hebrew word Torah is spelled out. In fact, using this method and applying to The Book of Exodus, the word Torah appears a few thousand times. The question then leads to why?

Ley Lines

Ley Lines-In 1921 archaeologist Alfred Watkins discovered something that would change the way we think about our ancestors once again. What he found is a clear connection between the alignment of different places with geographical and historical significance, such as ancient monuments, megaliths, natural ridge-tops, and water fords. The idea is that tectonic plates below the earth crust have certain break points in them and within these breaks, there are energy releases with great spiritual and metaphysical significance.  Ancient Kings and Queens have been buried along these 25,000 miles long lines as well as landmarks such: Easter Island, The Pyramids of Giza, Paracas Drawing, Nazca Tracks, Ollantaytambo, Macho Picchu, Cuzco, Sacsayhuaman, Dogon lands, Tassili N’ Ajjer, Siwa Oasis, Petra, Ur, Persepolis, Mohenjo Daro, Khajuraho, Pyay, Sukhothai, Angkor Wat, Preah Vihear. Even though the energy along these lines cannot be measured by conventional science, psychics and New Agers have been known to sense these energies.

Golden Ratio

The Golden RatioThe Greek letter phi represents the golden ratio and its value of 1.618. The significance in the number is that it is also called the divine proportion and has been applied to every aspect of nature and space as one of the building blocks of life and science. Their relationships with the Golden Ratio in architecture, paintings, seashells, flowers, tornados, the milky way, skeletons of animals, veins in plants, geometry in crystals and even a pentagram. It is not sure why, but it a number that is repeated throughout the universe over and over again. This could be the basis to show our interconnection on a mathematical numerical level that can be calculated and proportioned. There are many skeptics, but the evidence points to a reality that is becoming more probable by the day. DNA is also an exemplification of the Golden Ratio and shows proof of the intelligent design of the universe and not made together by sure chance. 137.5 is another measurement that can be used in human cells.

Humans are Millions of Years Old– One misconception I remember being told as a kid is that human beings and dinosaurs co-existed at the same time. Scientists debunked this because they estimated dinosaurs to live hundred of millions if years ago and humans didn’t exist until hundred of thousands of years ago. There is a different theory that says human kind is for older than we’ve been led to believe. The oldest recording of human habitating earth goes back to almost 600 Million years ago. A footprint in Utah that was fossilized and appears to be a sandal.  A human skull was found in coal and as scientifically tested to be 280 million years old. The discovery was made back in 1981 by Ed Conrad of Shenandoah. Testing also revealed dried blood, protein and crystals of calcium oxalate dihydrate. This brings a caveat to the theory that dinosaurs and humans roamed the earth.

I can't breathe

Last Saturday was one of the most amazing experiences of my life on earth to date. I decided I wanted to be a part of history and march along fellow supporters to end this domestic terroristic sub-culture that tosses out cases of black men getting killed with no penalty or punishment of the police officer. Even now there are details behind the shooting and killing of Mike Brown that the prosecutor suppressed that directly conflicts with the narrative that suggests Darren Wilson’s life was in danger at the time of the shooting.

Man in chains

The march began at Washington Square Park, I got there around 3pm because I got off at the wrong stop and missed my scheduled train into Penn Station from LI. I remembered being nervous I was going to miss the crowd, but when I finally got into the city and arrived at West 4rth street I felt relieved. I could see large pockets of people gathering and soon saw the protests signs and heard the megaphones and the chants against racism and support for Eric Garner and Mike Brown.

Once I was inside the park I saw different organizations and that were there for this day. Among the most vocals were members from LRP-COFL.org, Answer Coalition.org, National Liberty Alliance, 100 Blacks for Law Enforcement. I also bought a newspaper called Revolution,  which covered protests from NY to Mexico and all around the globe. I was only in the park for about ten minutes gathering newspapers and fliers when the crowd was moving toward the streets. It was there that I saw the awesome power of our civil liberties at work.

Protest

What was silence, turned into chants organically into the crowd that crescendo into overwhelming applause and cheers. “Hey hey, Ho ho, these racist cops have got to go!” “Hands up, Don’t Shoot!” “Show me what democracy looks like, This is what democracy looks like!” “No justice, No peace!” “Eric Garner, Michael Brown, shut it down, shut it down!” I could see the faces of the onlookers and police by the barricades. Some were there just to see what the fuss was about, others showed support on their way to work or wherever they needed to be. Often they chanted with us and gave more power to the message that #Alllivesmatter even if the court system doesn’t see it that way.

The feeling was incommunicable in words. There was an inseparableness that I felt that I only experienced online until this point. I’ve seen past rally’s and protests and knew people of all economic and racial backgrounds were there. I even knew about the global support for Ferguson and Eric Garner, with the different hashtags #crimingwhilewhite, #blacklivesmatter, #Icantbreathe, but to witness first hand and be a part of the warm fellowship left me in state of awe.

I was surprised by this generation’s resilient and remonstrance spirit. All I have been told and thought is since first hearing about Michael Brown, is that this was gonna wash over America and end in a another church hymn with the packaging of we shall overcome during a pastor’s congregation meeting. This generation, to me now shows the spark of the young Malcom X’s, Martin Luther King’s, Cesar Chavez, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Stonewall Inn protests for Gay Rights. I was also humbled by the compassion of the buildings and businesses on the streets we marched on. Many of them held signs and banners that gave this movement life, “#BlackLivesMatter” and the diversity among the crowd couldn’t have been a better representation of what this country should stand for more often.

I remember feeling like since we’re all here for once cause, then I surely can stand up for another cause, even if it was not my own. I don’t have to be gay to stand alongside someone who is and fight for them. I don’t have to be an immigrant to know that they also deserve to be treated better in this country. During the marching and chanting, it become a jovial occasion, realizing the power of force and the message we are sending around the world and to Washington and every political office in this country, that change is coming, so either help us do it or get thrown out of office for someone who will.

I saw mother pushing baby strollers and fathers holding their children on their heads so they could see the signs and helicopters passing over us. I saw old, young, any color of race and nationality and sexual orientation. I saw some Latino sisters and brothers chanting along with us in Spanish and with a sign written in Spanish, which I couldn’t make out entirely, but I did see one part I recognized #Alllivesmater!

There were moments of silence, but the energy never wavered, even after hours of walking and I really didn’t even know where we were going, but I wasn’t going to stop. A gentleman finally told we were heading for the first precinct. “What do we want? Justice. When do we want it? Now”, “I Can’t Breathe” were also very powerful outcries in the crowd. One man who introduced himself as David asked to interview me during the march. He asked a couple of questions about me and why I was there to support and if I have any personal stories that fit the profile of being discriminated against. I told him the story of being pulled over at 2am for a broke license plate light, that ended in a 35 dollar ticket. I didn’t know about a license plate light to know I needed one at the time. I know it wasn’t a story that ended in a violent beating with night sticks or even getting shot over it, but I felt they pulled me over because I was driving while black through a prominently rich white neighborhood on my way home from work.

By the end of the day I was tired, hungry, cold and had been holding myself from going to the bathroom for almost four hours, but I didn’t want to leave. It wasn’t until I reminded myself that I had to work later that night, that I finally trotted back to the subway to make it for my shift. I don’t know if anyone took pics of me, since I didn’t have a camera phone, but I recorded audio of the event on my phone. I plan to go to at least two more protests this year. My agenda this year now to support the fight against climate change and a wage increase.

Some people want a pretty lie instead of the ugly truth. I get it, for a lot of years I accepted things that were explained to me as a kid. I trusted the sources, whether they were family members telling me what they were taught as children. Teachers whose job it was to cram the material down your throat and absorb the humdrum so you could pass a test or gather research for a paper that was due. I really didn’t learn the underlining truth until after I left school and felt the need to answer some questions that didn’t make sense to me.

Adam and Eve Dilemma

In the bible the universe is only about 6,000 years old. I don’t know why, but this has been the subject of debate for a long time. I believe in science and I believe the Earth is over 3 billion years old and that mankind has only been around for a couple hundred years. This notion as well as the big bang theory was up for debate and argued by Bill Nye the Science Guy and Ken Ham, whose perspective was directly for the idea of creationism.

black Adam and Eve

Another piece of scientific evidence that can be used to debunk the creation of man came from a single woman and man was found in a man’s DNA that ties his lineage back over 300,000 years ago. I found an article in The MadMan Chronicles and it details that a man’sDNA from South Carolina has Y chromosomes that predates the earliest homo sapiens fossils. Discovery News and Science Direct found the dilemma when the volunteer’s DNA sample could not be verified by during a National Geographic Genographic Project. The base pairs to choose from were over 240,000. When the search led to a Mbo connection the project came to a conclusion the idea of a single man and woman creating the human race based on that the Y chromosome was part of a family tree.

Who is the real face of Jesus?

Jesus              Jesus is black                Black Jesus

If you saw your face as the reflected  image and embodiment of Jesus Christ, how much closer to omnipotence would this make you feel? Also, subconsciously how would you look your race? Would it make them godlike as well? These are the questions we need to ask ourselves when we look as pictures of the Lord and Savior. Up and until about 31 BC Jesus was worshipped in this original form, shape and sin complexion, which was not the blue eyes and white skin known today. The tribe of Judah was known to the Hebrews and a dark skin nation, which Jesus was known to have come from. Proof of this has been found on wall carvings in the catacombs of Rome, where a painting of Jesus who was beardless, dark-skinned with short hair was shown. Often his likeness could be found on paintings, carvings and scultpures.

Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo were in competition to win the approval of the King, Pope Alexander VI. Christianity was taken over by Europe at this time and the King had every image of the black Jesus destroyed and the Vatican was remade. Still the King needed a symbol that would lead the countries into the new world of the faith. Leonardo, who knew this and also knew the Pope loved his son Cesare Borgia. Leonardo created a painting of Cesare passed off as Jesus Christ and therefore created the falsehood story that a long-haired, blue-eyed European could somehow been the creator of the Christian faith. Cesare himself had a controversial past, he had a sexual relationship with his sister, and was also blamed for the murder of his own brother Giovanni Juan Borgia. Cesare Borgia was also a mass murderer and homosexual. My skin upon is black upon me.(Job 30:30)

The King James Version

King James Version

What can I say about this one. Oh, I know King James is not who he seems to be. Honestly, I was probably the most surprised when I did the research on him than anyone else on this blog. King James of Scotland/England I wanted to make his own version of the bible. One that was denied to the common people unlike the Geneve Bible that was for everyone’s use. The KJB was for government publication solely because of the “divine right of Kings” taught to him by his mother Mary Stuart aka Bloody Mary. King James was notably to the product of adultery since Mary Stuart had an affair behind her husband’s back, King Henry. David Rizzio an Italian secretary was King James father by birth. He was executed by King Henry after he learned of the affair.

Mary had many affairs behind her husbands back and often tried to kill him as well. She tried to kill him in a gunpowder explosion, but when he survived, he was mysteriously suffocated that same night. Mary was to blame for her husband’s death and put death herself by Elizabeth I of England who was her cousin. Charming family right!!!!! Before her death, Mary got the name Bloody Mary because during her reign she executed another cousin Lady Jane Grey to avoid any power struggle between them. She executed hundreds of protestant leaders with the intent to turn the church back into Roman Catholicism. To her being a protestant was a “crime” punishable only by death.

Remember, that was the mother who was a psychopath murdering, adultrist. Her son was not far behind. King James authorized the publication and production for the King James Version of the Bible, which was translated from Greek and Hebrew to English. While he didn’t hover over the authors of the new bible he did, however, provide rules they had to follow during the translation.

1.      The ordinary Bible read in the church, commonly called the Bishop’s Bible to be followed and as little altered as the truth of the original will permit.

2.      Or, since the common people preferred the Geneva Bible to the existing government publication, let’s see if we can slip a superseding government publication onto their bookshelves, altered as little as possible.

3.      The old Ecclesiastical words to be kept, viz. the word “church” not to be translated “congregation,” etc.

4.      That is, if a word should be translated a certain way, let’s deliberately mistranslated it to make the people think God still belongs to the Anglican Church — exclusively.

5.      No marginal notes at all to be affixed, but only for the explanation of the Hebrew or Greek words, which cannot without some circumlocution, so briefly and fitly be expressed in the text.

witch trials                                         witch trials again

The part that is more troubling is that King James was in fact a homosexual. It seems odd, the one who authorized the KJB like kissing young boys and men more than women. His conduct was documented in books like James I: The Fool As King and King James-VI of Scotland/I of England. He was nicknamed by the townspeople Queen James to mock his sexual relationships. In his teenage years James had a relationship with Esme’ Stuart, Earl of Lennox, which was not accepted by church leaders who forced Esme’ to flee Scotland. King James also kissed Francis Stewart Hepburn and was known to have a sexual relationship with him as well. King James also had affairs with George Villiers, and called Villiers his wife as well.

Another oddity about James was he enjoyed killing animals and would roll around in their blood for fun. It was rumored that he also practiced bestiality on the animals while they were dying. He would sanction witch trials and enjoyed the torture and killing of women whom he thought practiced witchcraft. When a jury acquitted Barbara Napier for witch craft, King James was so angered by the verdict, he wrote to the court to have the jury sentenced to death. Ironically, they reversed their decision and Barbara Napier was put to death.

The North Berwick witch trials started in 1589 by King James back in Scotland. An estimated 4,000 to 6,000 people were executed during the trials. King James published a book that was meant for defense against witches. Daemonologie  was three books used solely to hunt, capture and kill witches. They also discussed possession, demons, were-wolves, fairies, ghosts and necromancy.

good_vs_evil

A few years ago I had a conversation at works with some co-workers. We would often have discussions that felt like a forum when there was downtime at the job. Our topics would range from religion to reality tv and so on. One conversation in particular we talked about was the idea that human society as a whole is becoming more evil than we have in the past. The question became paradoxical when one person made the argument that society is just as evil as it has always been, but since the internet and the world became digital, we have been able to transport information in a split second. The world is becoming more diaphanous and reflects our greatest and worst qualities within us.

Do we have free will to choose good vs evil?

Human choice has been something debated by philosophers and scientists since the times of the ancient Egypt. Is the idea of freedom and free will an illusion. Nothing more than an ideological equalivalent to a visual hologram. Cosmological determinism which is an ideal that everything is predetermined and predicted makes the notion of free will improbable. Neuroscientists made a discovery that our brains make our decisions far before we are actually conscious of them. This term called “Bereitschaftpotential” which means readiness potential describes a subfield the brain goes into prior to conscious awareness.

Scientists Kornhuber and Deecke’s used EEG scans on research participants. They found that during a test where the subjects were asked to move their fingers. Prior to the voluntary movement the motor cortex showed a negative slow potential shift right before. Benjamin Libet also ran experiments in the 1980’s that further reaffirmed the findings from Kornhuber and Deecke. This time the participants would watch a clock with a dot circling around it. Data showed that .35 seconds before conscious awareness the readiness potential began. He concluded that as far as the initiation of our movements, there is no free will. This can be “vetoed” at the last-minute he also noted. He also believed that the anterior cingulate motor areas of the brain, which allows us to focus and execute self-initiated actions and self instigated movements.

Neuroscientists are now using fMRI and implanted electrodes to study this phenomenon. Participants were asked to go into an fMRI scanner and then press a button with their right or left index finger. They had to remember what letter appeared on the screen the moment they pressed the button. What they found was that the BP occurred one second prior to the conscious awareness and sometimes up to ten seconds before. “The first thought we had ‘we have to check if this is real.’ We came up with more sanity checks than I’ve ever seen in any other study before.” Another test actually used implants of electrodes into a person’s brain to record the activity of the individuals neutrons. He found that the neurons lit up 1.5 seconds prior to any conscious awareness. They used this to give a prediction of the person’s actions with 80% sometimes 90% accuracy. The conclusion became that the neuronal assemblies, cross a threshold and that the medial frontal cortex can determine these decisions before a person is even aware of it.

The Mind of a Killer

Mass shootings in this country have become problematic in our society. It seems that the more we find out about mental illness and the connection between the pestilence of these types of killings it has become more evident that evil is tangible in our way of life. In the last paragraph I talked about the absence of free will and the scientific analysis of the brain that pre-determines our actions. Could this in turn mean that out sociopaths/psychopaths are also commanded by some internal brain pattern.

In an article in Time magazine examining the minds of killers one investigator found that a man who killed 17 people and murdered and wounded 32 had a tumor and a vascular malformation pressing against his amygdala which is the region of the brain that controls emotion. A schoolteacher developed a sick compulsion for child pornography and began making advances towards his stepdaughter. He got arrested and then flunked out of a 12 step course, but when he went to the ER for a terrible headache and other neurological symptoms the doctors discovered an egg sized tumor on his right oribitofrontal cortex which controls decision-making. When the tumor was removed the urges stop, but the urges came back along with the re-growth of another tumor.

One experiment that was done on 96 male felons to study their impulse control and brain function. The test consisted of a fMRI scanner on them while they performed pressing a button when they saw the letter X,but had to refrain when they saw the letter K. The letter X was designed to appear over 84% of the time, which led to overclicking by the inmates who confused to the two letters. The anterior cingulate cortex(ACC) is the region of the brain that controls impulses. In turn that test found that those who did bad on the test had lower levels of ACC than those who scored higher. The correlation between the ones with lower ACC is that when the inmates were released back into society the ones with lower levels had been likely to be re-arrested four times more.

Another example of babies 6 monthsold born with a condition called cavum septum pellucidum which is a small gap in the forward left and right regions of the brain were more likely to develop behavioral disorders and exhibit criminal behavior. The question for us then becomes if someone is biological influenced to become a killer are they held accountable for the actions they committed. Dr Keihl’s who also studied prisoners in two high security facilities found that psychopath’s brains had low levels of density in the paralimbic system which is responsible for processing emotion. This connections results in impulsive personalities and show little evidence of feeling guilt, remorse of empathy.

A gene that has been studied seems to hold some answers whether evil is hereditary or not. The MAO-A (Warrior gene)gene seems to be the key to the question if evil within us and can it be passed down. A study done on Danish men found that identical twins when one had a criminal record the other twin had a 50% chance to have to also have a criminal record themselves. If there were non-identical twins they were 15-30% more likely to exhibit criminal behavior than an average Danish male. In the same scope children of criminal parents were more likely to become criminals even if the children were adopted and the foster parents were law biding citizens.

Can the Good turn Bad?

In the summer of 1971 there was an experiment where nine students volunteered for a two-week paid study program in Stanford County Prison. The students were blindfolded, stripped naked, sprayed with powder and given short smocks and flip-flops, hair was cut and they were given a number instead of a name. They were all tested and passed to be emotionally and physically competent. Dr. Zimbardo who was a psychologist played a warden in the prison. Twelve more volunteers were given uniforms and mirrored sunglasses and were given the task to enforce the prison rules. The inmates had to be quiet during meals and rest periods.

The guards tormented the inmates, waking them up at to recite numbers they had been assigned, playing naked leap frogging with other inmates. If inmates rebelled they were punished with push-ups and even solitary confinement. Some of the guards fell in line with these cruelties while other guards were clearly the aggressors and thought of more and more ways to torture the inmates. The prisoners themselves seemed the most complacent and obeyed their orders with little resistance.

The experiment was shut down after 6 days when the lines were too blurred for the “guards” to make moral and ethical decisions for themselves and seemed to be apart of a single ispeity. The prisons became violent and some became docile and accepting of their prisoner indicative role. Dr. Zimbardo’s experiment failed the ideal argument that good people can maintain their moral high-ground even in a virulent environment.  So my question now can good people given the wrong conditions turn themselves into immoral corrupted individuals.

Religion Explains the Rise of Evil

One explanation of the more and more accumulating evidence of evil is the argument that we are approaching the “Last Days.” In Christian culture describe the last days when the sinners of the earth will be judged. The rejection of word as one article puts it is the reason why the world is heading on a one way train to armageddon.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. [Romans 1:24-32]

When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread: So will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee; and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it. –Exekiel 5:16-17

“And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. – Revelation 18:2

14-year-old Marcy Conrad of Milpitas, California, had been raped, strangled to death, and left lying off the road in the hills outside of town. According to the local paper, at least 13 students went out to look at her body. One girl picked up the murdered girl’s jeans, cut off a patch, and threw the jeans down along the side of the road. One student tried to cover the body with leaves. Another took his eight-year-old brother along to see the body. One boy went twice. Those who saw the body went back to class or to the pinball arcade. One went home to bed. Another student said he only cared about collecting the marijuana cigarette he had won on a bet that the body was real. As the newspaper reported: “The shock is the shock of the of the encounter with icy indifference, the indifference of the kids in the first instance, but much more importantly, of the culture that produced them… The depersonalization did not begin yesterday; it is not unique to this moment, yet it seems more complete – and they seem more alienated and isolated – than we have ever known before.

Public order has disappeared in “the new South Africa.” Crime is rampant. In Cape Town, a serious crime occurs every 17 seconds. Police have 1,227,047 unsolved cases under review, according to Crime Investigation Services divisional chief Johan le Rous. It is increasingly dangerous in South Africa to own a nice car since roving gangs of unemployed thugs surround nice cars at intersections, drag the driver and passengers out, beat them brutally, then drive off with the car – just for a wild “joy ride” in which the car is vandalized or wrecked.

“Since virtually all perverted behavior people engage in is now categorized under “natural behavior,” a door is now opened for more wicked sins. Just thirty years ago we would have been appalled, even outraged, by the decadence and debauchery that daily fills our streets, TV shows, movie screens, music and art, video games, businesses, and political bodies. But today we rarely give it a second thought. In fact, we often give it our approval, or a least fail to speak out against it. We have gotten used to it all, even though it is not a good thing to get used to. ”

“As a society, we have gotten used to illicit sexual relationships, adolescent promiscuity, abortion, cheating, lying, stealing, prostitution, rape, divorce, and even murder. We have gotten used to financial mismanagement on both civil and personal levels. We haveaccepted political corruption. We have rejected personal and social responsibility and learned to blame anyone or anything else for our problems and failures. We have traded in our infinitely valued divine image for a nickel-plated pagan shrine erected in honor of self-interest, immorality, and social apathy. The American ideal today is me first to do what I want, when I want, to whom I want, regardless of who or what it may hurt. These are the signs of a society gone wrong.”

I think the author nailed it one the head with this one. I really didn’t want to change any wording around. This isn’t the first time though Christians have cried out these are the last days and the sinners will pay for their wrongdoings in pestilence proportions. Truthfully was supposed to come by the turn of the century, then again Y2k was supposed to end everything as we know, then the Mayans prophecized Dec. 21, 2012 was the day the stars lined up and the Apocalypse was supposed to come down. I see the times are getting worse, but I have a hard time accepting this is biblical and we are heading for judgment. Just in case though a quick prayer………….Amen lol

religion

Have you ever heard of religious rituals that can be controversial by today’s standards? We are far beyond the years when religion and prophets were not questioned, no matter difficult of a pill to swallow some of their actions may seem. In this article I want to present some acts justified by religion that otherwise would not be accepted in society.

  1. Female Genital Mutilation – The practice uses razors, scissors or knives to cut on a infant female vagina to create a seal that narrows the vagina. Urine and menstrual blood are still able to pass through, but the girl’s legs are tied together for four weeks while the tissue heals.
  2. Annual Morning Rite– If you were to hit the head of a young boy and spill his blood into the street you might get arrested, unless you’re celebrating Ashura bloodletting ceremony. The ritual is supposed to mark the death of the prophet Mohammad’s grandson Imam at the 7th century battle of Kerbala. Sh’ia Muslims believe this ritual absolves their sins. A common saying states, “a single tear shed for Husayn washes away a hundred sins.
  3. Putting out the Elder Eskimos to die in the Ice– So just by the title you can see where this is going. It seems that when an Eskimo comes of a certain age that they are taken out to sea on an iceberg to either freeze of starve to death. The ritual is supposed to be the honorable way to go instead of being a burden on the family. Eskimos believe the afterlife awaits beyond this world so it is more a transcendence than a banishment.
  4. Cannibalism– The Aghoris of northern India, which is a small sect of Hinduism still believes the consumption of human carcases brings immortality and supernatural powers. They drink from human skulls and believe that this brings spiritual and physical benefits such as the prevention of aging.
  5. Eating the dead’s ashes– The Yanomamo believe a large portion of their community are killed and consumed by demons sent by shaman. To counteract this, the bodies are quickly burned and the bones are pulverized and put into gourds to be consumed in a plaintain soup one year later. The ritual is supposed help of the dead to find their way into paradise.
  6. Pulling a tooth – In Australia an adult male would put fur string into his mouth to absorb the blood and also prevents the tooth from being swallowed. Taking a sharp end of a spear and presses it against the man’s tooth. It is then struck by a stone to strike loose the tooth.
  7. Animal Massacre – In Hinduism there is a ritual killing called the “Bali Sacrifice,” which includes strangulation and then striking a wooden spile into the heart. Priests see the animals, making noise as a bad omen. This ritual is used to honor a Hindu God a sacrifice the evil spirits.
  8. A sub-incision into the Urethra – A slit is cut through the ventral area of the penis. Then going into the urethra from its orifice to a position about an inch along the shaft of the penis. Bit by bit the penile urethra is turned into the open channel.
  9. Collars of Metal – The ideal of an elongated neck is more of  sign of beauty by long brass wound spirals. The length of the coil is gradually increased to as much as twenty turns. The weight of the coils creates enough pressure to deform the shoulder blades and gives the impression of a longer neck.
  10. Metzitzah b’peh – In the Orthodox Jewish community a ritual is practiced where the mohel or practitioner places their mouth on the penis and sucks the blood to “cleanse” the wound. This has raised health concerns due to the cases of herpes infections associated with it. The practice itself is over 5,000 years old and practiced by all Jewish denominations.
  11. Christmas – This holiday you wouldn’t think is surrounded in controversy, but the ideas and concepts such as caroling, christmas tree, mistletoe, holly wreaths and yule logs all have origins pre-dating Christians. Check out a holiday called Saturnalia and the winter solstice to truly understand.
  12. Easter – The holiday time surrounding Easter has roots in the spring Equinox. Eggs, rabbits, hares are symbols of fertility used in the Pagan religion. The story of resurrection also have ties back to gods and goddesses such as Inanna, Ishtar, Horus and Mithras.

Religious practices has at times created controversy. It doesn’t take away from the gratification that a believer receives.
